Bethany Haysom

As a creative, I take on many different roles in my work within the art and design world. Currently, I am primarily working in Exhibition Curation, Illustration, and Marketing, and am based between Cambridgeshire and London.

I have been actively pursuing work in curation following my position as a Babylon Young Curator in 2023 at Babylon Gallery, Ely. So far I have curated two exhibitions titled ‘I Am Because We Are’ (2023), ‘An Artist’s Refuge’ (2024), and am currently co-curating a third titled ‘Sensing Nature’ (2024).

Alongside this, I have taken on the Marketing and Communications for Babylon ARTS, in which I am responsible for promoting the organisations gallery, cinema, projects and events.

Finally, I continue to take on illustration and graphic design commissions. I work closely with architects, landscape architects and other designers, producing design visualisations, marketing assets and document layouts. I am flexible and skilled at working to a brief.

I have always had a drive for creativity and design. I grew up in a highly artistic home, and have always drawn and painted. I studied art at A-level, before deciding to study Mathematics at the University of Sheffield, where I graduated with First Class Masters with Honours. Alongside studying for my Maths degree, I was taking on commissions for graphic design and art projects, as well as selling fine art prints of my work.

I enjoy telling stories about people through my work, whether this be through exhibition curation, illustration, or promoting local businesses. I enjoy exploring relationships between people. In my personal artwork this often translates into portraits, in a variety of media. In exhibitions, this is in the form of a strong concept or theme, often using contemporary art to highlight the stories of the artists themselves. In commission based work, this involves telling the stories of small businesses and organisations.

Thanks for reading, and I hope you enjoy exploring my work. xx
